Journées Européennes du Patrimoine – 2ème édition du salon du cuir

September 20

To mark European Heritage Days, Sand’Cuir Artisanat is organizing the 2nd edition of the leather crafts fair. This event pays tribute to the town and its history, which is deeply rooted in the leather industry thanks to the shoe and leather goods factories that operated here until the 1980s. There, you’ll discover various crafts in the fields of leather goods, hats, luggage, footwear, bookbinding, and saddlery/harness-making… as well as time-honored craftsmanship through an exhibition of their creations. We hope to see many of you there!

Planning your stay around local events

There is always something happening around Le Petit Capelier. Issigeac’s famous Sunday market takes over the medieval village every week, while Bergerac, Eymet, Villeréal and Castillonnès host regular markets, brocantes, concerts, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year.

During the summer, look out for marchés gourmands and village fêtes, where long communal tables, local food, Bergerac wines and live music make for wonderfully relaxed evenings. The vineyards around Monbazillac and Bergerac also host tastings, concerts and special events throughout the season.

We update this calendar regularly as new events are announced, including some of the smaller local happenings that can be surprisingly difficult to discover online.

Staying at Le Petit Capelier? Check the calendar before you arrive — or subscribe to it — and you’ll always have ideas for what to do during your stay in the Dordogne.
