Marché de Noël – Roaillan

December 13

A traditional Christmas market in Roaillan bringing together local artisans, makers, artists and producers for a festive day of handmade and locally produced gifts.

Held indoors in a heated hall, it’s a lovely opportunity to discover local crafts and produce while enjoying a little French Christmas atmosphere.

Organised by RCL – Rencontre Culture Loisirs.

Worth the drive: Roaillan is approximately 1½ hours west of Le Petit Capelier, towards the Sauternes wine country. Combine the Christmas market with lunch and a visit to one of the vineyards around Sauternes for a lovely winter day out.

Planning your stay around local events

There is always something happening around Le Petit Capelier. Issigeac’s famous Sunday market takes over the medieval village every week, while Bergerac, Eymet, Villeréal and Castillonnès host regular markets, brocantes, concerts, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year.

During the summer, look out for marchés gourmands and village fêtes, where long communal tables, local food, Bergerac wines and live music make for wonderfully relaxed evenings. The vineyards around Monbazillac and Bergerac also host tastings, concerts and special events throughout the season.
