Théâtre : Quand le tambour s’éveillera
The company ‘En Travers de la Gorg’ held an artist-in-residence program at La Ferme de Grangeneuve in June and July—a project that combines the talking drum, double bass, and sign language—and invites you to discover its new work.
“When the Drum Wakes Up” follows the journey of a talking drum from West Africa, from its birth to its scientific “capture” in a display case at some museum, on the other side of the world. There, it will meet an exile, like itself—a double bass from distant lands for which it feels nostalgia. Brought together by chance, the two instruments unite to invent something new. The storyteller translates this into words and gestures until there is nothing left to say—only to listen to the music.
Timing note: The organiser supplied a start time but no finishing time. Please confirm the end time directly with the venue.

Planning your stay around local events
There is always something happening around Le Petit Capelier. Issigeac’s famous Sunday market takes over the medieval village every week, while Bergerac, Eymet, Villeréal and Castillonnès host regular markets, brocantes, concerts, exhibitions and festivals throughout the year.
During the summer, look out for marchés gourmands and village fêtes, where long communal tables, local food, Bergerac wines and live music make for wonderfully relaxed evenings. The vineyards around Monbazillac and Bergerac also host tastings, concerts and special events throughout the season.
We update this calendar regularly as new events are announced, including some of the smaller local happenings that can be surprisingly difficult to discover online.
