A remarkable journey through contemporary Australian Aboriginal painting is coming to the medieval village of Issigeac this winter. From 4 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, Galerie Ocarina presents Utopia – Le rêve en héritage, exploring the art of painters from the Utopia communities in central Australia.
Discover the artists of Utopia
Utopia describes a network of Anmatyerre and Alyawarre communities northeast of Alice Springs, not a single town. The gallery’s exhibition explores artistic traditions passed between generations, including a history that developed from batik-making in the late 1970s to acrylic painting on canvas in the late 1980s.
It is an opportunity to encounter a distinctive body of contemporary art without leaving the beautiful lanes of Issigeac, just a short journey from Le Petit Capelier.
